Certified Angus Beef Welcomes New Director of Producer Communications
Genetics and management are at the forefront of targeting the Certified Angus Beef ® brand but communicating beef value propositions to cattlemen guides informed business decisions. To bring the most relevant production and economic information to cattlemen, CAB hired fifth-generation rancher Lindsay Graber Runft as director of producer communications.

In a fast paced and dynamic communications space, Certified Angus Beef seeks three students aspiring for opportunities beyond the classroom and through the beef supply chain. Three internship positions are available for college students majoring in agricultural communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related areas.

With a dream and a leap of faith, Ranch Covey Hill took shape. The Quebec-based Angus ranch has been built from the ground up, but always with customer satisfaction in mind. That’s what earned the Chenail family recognition from Certified Angus Beef at the brand’s 2022 Annual Conference.

From a cattlemen’s perspective and fed cattle management standpoint, I would look for continued wide quality grade premiums as well as Certified Angus Beef ® brand premiums on those packer grids. I would manage cattle and price cattle for our placements moving forward accordingly.

Now is the time for cattlemen to evaluate the potential for exceptionally strong premiums in high quality CAB traditional and Prime carcasses down the road. When high quality carcasses are in short supply the price spreads tend to explode. Be ready.

The Certified Angus Beef ® (CAB®) brand turned 40 this year, tapping into an increased well of available and qualified cattle, up 25% in two years. With annual global sales reaching beyond 1.2 billion pounds (lb.), it’s pulled far ahead of a very large pack, the hundreds of other brands combined falling short.
A mark to remember
For the brand that changed beef, unconventional isn’t unusual. In discussions about how to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Certified Angus Beef ® (CAB®) brand, painting 40 barns with the logo was an off-the-wall idea. However, for a company deeply rooted in rural tradition, it seemed a fitting way to commemorate the milestone.
The Path to 2 Billion
Could the Certified Angus Beef ® (CAB®) brand reach a billion pounds in sales? It was an audacious question back at the turn of the century when first considered. Some of the CAB team at the time were, candidly, more optimistic than me. We did the math and looked at so many of the trend lines that were in place from acceptance rates to certified head count. I wondered if the industry could respond.
