Brand Production Beyond Borders

Domestic or international, the objective has remained clear over the years: to access additional CAB® carcasses to support growing domestic and international demand, without compromising product quality and consistency, brand integrity, and value to Association members.

Not From Your Pocket

When Angus ranchers ask how CAB is funded, the answer isn’t dollars out of their pocket. No portion of American Angus Association® membership dues or fees for cattle registrations or transfers goes toward the brand’s budget. As a not-for-profit company, our revenue is generated through packer commissions.

Protecting Brand Integrity

Protecting the brand’s integrity has been a core pillar since 1978. Integrity is so foundational that the brand was built around the premise: with integrity, nothing else matters, and without it, nothing else matters.

Sysco Highlights the Value of Beef Quality Assurance

The commitment to cattle care and continuous improvement is also reflected in the Raised with Respect™ program, a partnership between CAB and Sysco, now in its third year. The initiative helps expand awareness of BQA principles while supporting educational resources for ranchers and additional collaboration across universities, extension systems and industry partners.

News Release: Here’s the Premium

While the cattle market fell from record highs in 2014 in a steep dive to last fall’s low, the relative demand for quality and premium bids for Angus calves fared better.

Why beef quality grades are improving

Prices have eased, but a 10-year uptrend in beef quality from U.S. grain-fed cattle remains in place. That’s partly because lower quality beef has sold at a widening discount to average quality, says a beef cattle specialist with the Certified Angus Beef ® (CAB®) brand.

Loud and clear

The beef market tells you what it wants. You just have to pay attention. “We know there are signals out there in the marketplace for quality. As you move further away from the end product, we know those signals are…not quite as distinct,” said Mark McCully, Certified Angus Beef LLC (CAB) at the 2016 Angus Convention in Indianapolis in November.

In the shoes of the customers, buyers

Angus bull buyers paid record-high prices in 2015. The calves from those sires are going to market now, and breeders should be helping their customers get the most out of the investment. That was the message from three panelists at the 2016 Angus Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., Nov. 4-7.

Jerry & Mike to the rescue

Thirty-eight years after the Certified Angus Beef ® (CAB®) brand’s first sale drew so much press that USDA canceled what it had just approved, the brand was honored with the Don L. Good Impact Award from Kansas State University (K-State).
