Happy 2nd Blog-iversary! The hits of 2012.

It started just like any other budding relationship. We were nervous. We were uncertain, but excited. Those were the feelings we recounted last year as we celebrated one year in the blogasphere.

Today? Well, we feel like this relationship is blossoming. We’ve gotten to know each other better—and we hope you feel the same way. We were excited to take you all over the country and introduce you to the intriguing folks we’ve met along the way.

Indeed, it’s been a year to celebrate. THANK YOU for reading. We thought we’d celebrate by taking a look back over the 10 most popular posts of 2012.

10. Not quite color blind. What do we have against Red Angus anyway? I addressed one of our most frequently asked questions in this April edition of Mythbuster Monday.

9. Crossbred pressure? Don’t deny heterosis, you fool. That’s the message Steve heard in his dream. Luckily for him he woke up and was still on the quality path.

8. Who are these people? I told you there were folks who liked data almost as much as they liked cattle and the outdoors, so I had to prove it to you. I introduced readers to the likes of Minnie Lou Bradley and Galen and Lori Fink.

7. Beef’s a Trip. “You keep worrying about your 4 years and I’ll worry about my 4 minutes.” We kicked off a 30-day blog series, partially inspired by that quote. During the month that followed we were on a fast-forward trip through the beef production system.

6. Shipping day. That day means one thing on the ranch. It means another at CAB.  We gave you a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to make our 2012 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show booth happen.

5. Beef’s a Trip: Starting at Day One. The research and development team. Stewards of the breed. Beef designers. It doesn’t matter what you call them, the point is, it all starts with the seedstock producer.

4. Relationships. Gary likes making friends and building the relationships. He recounted some of those from his road trip to Texas in March.

3. We are family. Scott Keeling told me being part of CAB was like being in a family, but you just didn’t know all of your relatives yet. From the crazy cousin chef to your brothers or sisters in the business, this post covered them all.

2. Yield Grades in Beef (Eins, zwei, drei)The YG equation simplified. Gary taught many about the math—and how changing numbers can really have an impact.

And drumroll please….

1. Changing the world, one beef eater at a time. “CAB? Ya, I’ve seen that at McDonald’s.” This myth is so popular, even when we bring it up for round two of discussion, folks seems to want to brush up on it again.
