PHOTO FRIDAY: CALIFORNIA CATTLE COUNTRY, PART II

July 1, 2011

Last week, Anthony and I embarked on a journey through California cattle country. In stark contrast to Steve’s last Wordless Wednesday, the folks out west are rolling through their second year of incredible forage. Even though the grasses have turned golden in the Central Valley, these cattle will still have plenty to graze through the winter.

Further north, pastures are still green, and the ranchers and their cattle are making the most of it. They’re leaving fall-born calves on the cows as long as possible and reaping the benefit of added pounds. Since we missed Wordless Wednesday this week, here’s a “Photo Friday” of our tour instead. Enjoy!

Before heading to California, I made a quick stop in Colorado and visited Aristocrat Angus north of Denver.

How are things looking in your neck of the woods? Lush and green like California, bone dry like Oklahoma or somewhere in between?
