Selling the best bulls? Serve the best beef
Some registered producers take advantage of the Certified Angus Beef ® brand “Licensee for a Day” program.
“Over the years we know Angus breeders have been very proud of CAB as their branded beef program and they wanted to serve CAB product at a lunch or dinner function they may be having,” says Mark McCully, our vice president of supply. “We developed ‘Licensee for a Day’ a number of years ago just to come alongside that registered producer using the product, to help support them and help them brand it.”
We send all available promotional materials—from napkins and steak picks to branded aprons, banners and information brochures—to let guests know they’re getting the best.
At Tehama Angus Ranch, near Gerber, Calif., they have treated their customers to the high-quality beef for several years at the pre-sale dinner.
“If we are going to serve steak, why not serve CAB?” ranch secretary Linda Borror says. “Quite a few of our customers use AngusSource, and many of their calves meet the specs for CAB so it’s a win-win all the way around.”
It’s important for producers who own the brand to feature it, Mark says. “It shows the alignment of their genetics, all the way up to the largest high-quality branded program out there. It creates more integrity and reputation about the commitment they have to quality and consumer satiation.”
Linda says it’s easy to use, too.
“Just call in and talk to Marilyn and find out what we need to do,” she says, referencing the CAB supply team’s administrative assistant. “The hardest thing is finding distributers. We are in northern Cali and we are rural and trying to find someone to purchase it from.”
But, with at least 3 weeks’ notice, Marilyn can help locate the closest supplier and get a shipment of CAB materials headed to the ranch.
“I suspect there are a lot of cattlemen who aren’t even aware we have this program,” Mark says.
When you are planning your next production sale make sure you have the best beef available for your customers and get on board the “Licensee for a Day” program. Not only will it connect the dots for your customers, it will also show your alignment with “The Brand that Pays.”
