Whoa! Just returned from the National Angus Conference and Tour held at Athens, GA…..home of the Bulldawgs! I’m not a Bulldawg fan, but there were a lot of them there! I was also pleasantly surprised at the cooler weather.
The forecast told me I wouldn’t possibly need anything more than long-sleeved shirts and pants to wear! I know that weather forecasters, by nature, are a bunch of liars, so I should have known better. For Pete’s sake, it was downright chilly the first evening, especially! It was 109 in Manhattan, KS on September 1 and 103 the next day. Travelling south to Georgia; I certainly don’t expect to have to pack my union suit.

There were some great stops on the tour. The one I enjoyed the most was probably at Kensington Cattle Company. I have developed a great relationship with their customer service representative in Mr. James Stice. James and I have spent quite a bit of time together visiting bull customers and feedlots alike. KCC had a lot of heifers and bulls on display and their caterer served up an especially delicious evening meal with CAB brisket as the entree.
Mr. Cathy had three sheds full of antique/classic automobiles. I am a huge fan of late 40s thorugh late 50s Buicks,so I couldn’t help myself from taking a few pix of them (don’t mind the Indians in the back seat of the ’48 Super convertible; they were harmless).
